The following story is told of Capt. Henry Briggs Sampson, great-great-great-grandson of Pilgrim Henry Samson, in John Adams Vinton’s 1864 The Sampson Family.

2. Henry Samson – Overlooked Pilgrim Ancestor

3. The Samson Church: St. Mary the Virgin Church, Henlow, Bedfordshire
St. Mary the Virgin Church is located in Henlow, Bedfordshire, along side of the river Ivel. It is a farming area. The church is thought to date from the 11th or early 12th century. Its impressive and massive tower dates from the late 15th century.

6. "English Ancestry of Seven Mayflower Passengers: Tilley, Samson and Cooper"

The List of passengers on the Mayflower given by Gov. Bradford of Plymouth Plantation includes the following: Edward Tilley and Ann his wife, and two children that were their cousins, Henry Sampson and Humility Cooper, John Tilly and his wife, and Elizabeth their daughter.

In Bradford's further account of the passengers entitled "Increasing and Decreasings", written early in 1651 he states: Edward Tilly and his wife both died soon after their arrival, and the girl Humility, their cousin, was sent into England and died there, but the youth Henry Sampson is still living and is married and hath seven children. John Tilly and his wife both died a little after they came ashore and their daughter Elizabeth married with John Howland and hath issue as before noted.
